Former NBA Player Rex Chapman Arrested for Stealing Over $14,000 Worth of Stuff from an Apple Store

NBA journeyman Rex Chapman—who played for four different franchises in 12 seasons and was on the All-Rookie Second Team in 1989—is in a whole lot of trouble after he was arrested for stealing over $14,000 in merchandise from a Scottsdale, Ariz. Apple store.

Chapman’s little scheme apparently involved going into the store, pretending to do self checkout, stuffing his bag with as much stuff as he could fit, and then going to a nearby pawn shop and immediately selling all of it. He apparently did this at least seven times over the last several months.

Employees were able to identify him because of his four year stint with the Phoenix Suns, which included this memorable play:

Sometimes, it’s good to be anonymous. Instead of escaping his own little Ocean's 11 scheme with an extra 14K in his pocket, Chapman now faces nine counts of organized retail theft and five counts of trafficking in stolen property. Hope it was worth it.
