Chiefs' Husain Abdullah Was Penalized for Praying in the Endzone (GIF) [UPDATED]

In the midst of all the potential headlines, like Tom Brady's off-day, the Kansas City Chiefs' defensive domination, Bill Belichick's reaction to the blowout, etc., there is one issue that may fly under the radar. After picking off Brady, the Chiefs' Husain Abdullah took it to the house from 39 yards out.

Once he reached the endzone, Abdullah, a devout Muslim, got down on his knees and said a little prayer. You know, not to be confused with this...

However, in Abdullah's case, the referees penalized him for "excessive celebrating" because, as the ref stated, "unsportsmanlike conduct, going to the ground." What? And for obvious reasons, the agent of the Chiefs safety is none too pleased with the penalty and what could come of it from the league.

The NFL just keeps getting more and more ridiculous with each game.

The NFL has admitted the mistake made by officials last night. According to the league, Abdullah did not deserve a flag for his prayer:
