On Monday, Carmelo Anthony will officially opt out for the 2014-15 season of his contract with the New York Knicks, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski. Even though Anthony had nothing but great things to say about his recent meeting with team president Phil Jackson, head coach Derek Fisher and general manager Steve Mills, their conversation wasn't enough to convince Melo to stay another year. With reports surfacing that Carmelo has looked into what it's like to live in Chicago, it has become increasingly clear that his days in blue and orange are nearing an end.
As for the rest of the Knicks' roster, ESPN's Marc J. Stein is reporting that Amar'e Stoudemire, who is set to make $23.4 million next season, will opt in and remain with the Knicks. And the same goes for Andrea Bargnani.
