Every year, the marketing departments for sports teams sit down and come up with a list of giveaways that they can hold in order to attract fans to games. Some of those giveaways are really good. But in other instances, the giveaways are total disasters. For example, who thought it was a good idea for the Chicago Blackhawks to give hard hats to their fans a few years ago? It may have sounded like a good idea. But when the fans started chucking the hats on the ice during the game, it was clear that they had made a mistake.
