Plasma Rockets Can Get Us to Mars in 39 Days

That's six times faster than current rockets.

You know what's super wack? The fact that we still haven't been to Mars. And it's not like we're close, either. We put a man on the Moon fifty years ago and then were like, "Nah, we don't need to go back."

If we ever do decide to stop being too cool for space, technology is now ready to get us to Mars stupid fast. The VASMIR plasma rocket has been in the works since 1977 and is now ready for implementation in future projects. It uses argon gas and radio waves (something we can find and use easily in space) and can travel at an estimated 35 miles per second (!), which is six times faster than current technology. That opens up the ability to travel all the way into deep space and makes Mars a breeze. That's right. M-A-R-S. Mars, bitches.
