How will the Calderon/Nowitzki connection work?

In other non-Dwight Howardrelated news, the Dallas Mavericks have made a solid acquisition. Jose Calderon has signed a four-year/$29 million with the team.

Calderon deal with the Mavericks will be four year, $29 million, league source says.

Calderon is known as a high-percentage shooter, shooting 52.7 percent from the field in 2011-12 and an NBA record 98.1 percent from the stripe in 2008-09. Dallas also pursued him in trade talks twice last season.

He may not be enough to make Dallas serious contenders, but hopefully he'll be able to prevent the horrendous Dirk Nowitzki-beard situation from ever happening again.
