When we first saw the Bentley Continental GT3 in person, we took this photo, which had a self-promoting Tumblr tear. It was one of our top three favorite cars from the show. Luckily, it wasn't done showing off. The race car finally debuted outside of a showroom at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. With the car, which has yet to hit the track in a proper race setting, Bentley will prove to anybody who still thinks the company is purely for luxury cruising that adept racing is a serious focus.Â
The GT3 has a 600hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and weighs only 2,866 pounds, 2,204 lighter than the Continental GT car its based on. Power is sent to the rear through an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox with a limited slip differential. The extreme exterior package is entirely aerodynamically designed. It has an enormous carbon fiber wing to keep the car pressed to the pavement, it has a carbon fiber splitter, a new rear diffuser and tweaked front and rear fenders.Â
