There have been persistent but unconfirmed rumors that apple is considering production of an "iCar" for years now. Recently, this has taken the form of speculation regarding a Tesla Motors takeover, but we digress. Apple has just filed an automotive patent, however.

The company has designed a touchscreen with ridges, indents, and grooves to make it so drivers can have their beloved touchscreens, and also operate them without crashing. This, combined with the annoucement from earlier this year that Apple was working on a car-specific version of iOS means that you need to get ready for yet one more criteria when car shopping. Do you want an iOS car or a different OS?
