Ranking Every NBA Finals MVP

42. Cedric Maxwell (1981)

Team: Boston Celtics
Opponent: Houston Rockets
Result: Celtics over Rockets, 4-2
Finals stats: 17.7 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.0 BPG

The man affectionately referred to as "Cornbread" started out the Finals very slowly, scoring just 16 points combined in Games 1 and 2. However, as Larry Bird fell into a shooting slump, Maxwell came alive as he led the Celtics in scoring in Games 3, 4, and 5, including a 28 point, 15 rebound outburst that gave the Celtics a 3-2 series lead. He was absolutely tenacious on the glass all series, as the Celtics' forward collected 5.7 offensive rebounds per game despite the tremendous interior presence of Moses Malone, more than doubling the total of his next-highest teammate.
