Almost always a bridesmaid as he ran into the juggernaut Celtics time and again throughout his career, Pettit played one of the all-time most clutch games in Game 6 of the 1958 Finals. Sick of Russell and Cousy's dominance, Pettit poured in 50 points in the deciding game as he single-handedly led the Hawks over the Celtics. He dominated the entire playoffs, too, posting averages of 24.2 points and 16.5 rebounds per game. While he never won another title after 1958, that tremendous performance alone is enough to earn Pettit permanent respect in the pantheon of NBA greats.
