The V12 Vantage has been discontinued, and while that does sadden us, what makes us happy is that it has been replaced with an even faster car that was teased last week, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. Power has been pushed up to 565 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. The torque isn't just a greater amount either, it's also available sooner than in the predecessor, which means that the 0-60 time should drop from 4.2 seconds to below four. On the other end of the speed spectrum is the fact that this Aston can now top out at 205 mph.
There are only two down-sides: the first the the price which is sure to be over $200,000, and the second is that the manual transmission is no more. While the V12 Vantage S has a fantastic sounding, race bred semi-automatic transmission, we're sad to see that the manual is gone. The now departed Aston Martin V12 Vantage may have been the last car to link a V12 engine with a stick, and that means this is a sad day indeed.
