Doc Rivers needs something—anything!—to motivate his Celtics right now. Down 0-2 to the Knicks in their best-of-7 playoff series, the Celts can't afford to lose Game 3 back in Boston. But don't expect to see Doc turn to the Boston Marathon bombing for motivation. Although Celtics fans will definitely be amped for the game on Friday night since it's the first one at the TD Garden since the bombing, he's not going to use the recent tragedy in Beantown to get his players ready to play.
"I won't use that," he said earlier today, "I can tell you that. I don't do that. I don't use tragedy for sports. I just don't think it's right. We want to win for the city. It would be terrific. But that is not anything I'm going to use in a press conference or with our players. We should want to win because we want to win. If we win, it would be great for the city. That's as far as I'll go with it."
Great answer, Coach. Now let's make this a series!
