17. 457 Total Bases in a Season
Team/Player: Babe Ruth
For someone who didn't have great foot speed, Babe Ruth was quite proficient at getting around the bases. In 1921 he set a record that still stands for total bases in a season with 457, and it's quite telling, that the entire top five seasons were accomplished before integration in 1947. Had more capable pitchers and fielders been playing in the MLB at the time, some of Ruth's 85 singles, 44 doubles and 16 triples would have turned into outs.
