As high as he is on this list, Dr. J could have been even higher had he spent more time in the NBA. However, the first five years of this Rucker Park legend's professional career were spent in the ABA, where he dominated to the tune of three MVPs and three scoring titles. Once in the NBA, it was more of the same; he averaged 23.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game over his first six seasons in the league. He helped carry a talented 76ers squad to four different Eastern Conference Finals, reaching the NBA Finals in 1980-81 and 1982-83. The team's championship win in 1982-83 cemented Erving's legacy as one of the all-time greats, although his combined ABA/NBA total of 30,000-plus points scored certainly helps his cause as well.
