It's still a few years off, but Bentley's preparing for a environmentally friendly assault on the luxury market. Following moves by Porsche and others, the iconic British motoring company will employ plug-in hybrid drivetrains—starting with either the four-door Continental Flying Spur or the much-anticipated future SUV.

CEO Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber brushed away rumors of a diesel engine with a market driven response, telling Auto Express, "To be honest, diesel is not really a priority for us - our main markets such as China, the US and the Middle East don't care about diesel."

Hybrid engines add curb weight, but traditional Bentley pace and power should still be expected when the new powertrain is fully revealed.
