What are the economic ramifications of a new car model? In the case of the 2013 Grand Cherokee, adding an oil-burning version meant 1100 new jobs at Chrysler's Jefferson North plant in Michigan.

Jeep will unveil the diesel-version of its successful SUV in Detroit next month. The vehicle is expected to run the same 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 engine offered in Europe. This will give the truck 237 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque to go with 28 combined mph.
