Much like last year, the Dallas Mavericks are probably going to get their 2012-13 NBA season off to a rocky start. After trying to treat his troubled right knee with a variety of different procedures over the course of the last few weeks, Dirk Nowitzki finally went under the knife and had arthroscopic surgery on it earlier today. That's good news for Nowitzki, who won't have to play an 82-game season with a bum knee. But, it's very, very bad news for the Mavs, who have eight new players on their roster and will be without their leader until at least the beginning of November.

Bet Mark Cubanwishes he had Deron Williams on the team now, huh?
