Riccardo Russo was a victim of premature celebration. It's a problem that affects nearly every athlete from time to time. That moment when pure elation sweeps over your body and the next thing you know, sadness and shame start to settle in after realizing the huge mistake you made. It can be a cold, dark place. After leading the 2012 Italian CIV championship with one more lap to go, Russo started celebrating because he thought he had won the race. Sadly, the guy ended up finishing in 14th place. Guess saying "oops" just doesn't cut it here.
