Last Year's "American Idol" Winner Pitched For His High School Baseball Team Last Weekend

He pitched one solid inning in his first varsity game ever.

None

At this point in his life, you'd think Scotty McCreery—the country singer who won last year's American Idol competition—would be above playing varsity baseball for his high school. In theory, he's got more important things to do. Like, ya know, tour the world and try to make his first couple million.

But, as it turns out, he's still a kid at heart. A kid who happens to really, really like baseball. So, last weekend, he took the mound for the Garner Trojans in Garner, N.C. and played his first game of varsity baseball. His stat line? Well, he only pitched an inning, but he didn't give up a single run and he managed to strike out two of the four batters he faced.

"It feels good just to come out here and just get back on the field," he said after the game. "I thought my curveball worked well. But today was just about the team. I'm glad to help out the team in any way possible."

Hopefully, that means his mom showed up with orange slices and Gatorade for the rest of the guys after the game.

And now that that's over, back to making millions!
