NBA Players Decline Proposed Offer From Owners

Adios, season?

None

Hopes for an NBA season just went for small to microscopic as NBA players have opted to turn down the owners' latest offer, split up the union, and put matters in the hands of the courts.

Union president Derek Fisher continued to express that the latest proposal, which included a 72-game season starting Dec. 15, was extremely unfair, particularly for future players. After disbanding the union, players plan to file an antitrust lawsuit against the NBA, meaning the fate of the players' future deal will be determined solely within the legal system. If the NBA comes out the "winner," the next deal the players receive will be far worse than the CBA they could have taken today, likely closer to a 46-54 split. [via NBA]
