Utah is known for more than John Stockton’s championship-less career, and well-made temple garments—but for the salt flats as well. During the early 1900s, the Bonneville Salt Flats became an oasis to an emerging automotive culture. The wide-open space, and smooth salt level ground attracted thrill enthusiasts from all over. Speed records were set—and broken—at the flats. The Boys of Bonneville: Racing on a Ribbon of Salt documentary gives rise to this historic culture, and will be touring film festivals this year.
