The Minnesota Timberwolves ended up with the second-overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft during last night's draft lottery—losing out only to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who sent team owner Dan Gilbert's 14-year-old son who suffers from a disease called neurofibromatosis to represent the team. So you'd think T'Wolves GM David Kahn would be happy with the results of the lottery. But you'd think wrong. Instead, Kahn took to the press shortly after the draft to reveal that he thinks the NBA is rigging the lottery in order to get the best storylines.
"This league has a habit, and I am just going to say habit, of producing some pretty incredible storylines," he said. "Last year it was [former Washington Wizards owner] Abe Pollin's widow and this year it was a 14-year-old boy and the only thing we have in common is we have both been bar mitzvahed. We were done. I told [Utah Jazz executive] Kevin [O'Connor]: 'We're toast. This is not happening for us.' And I was right."
