Yes, you read that correctly. Asics used to create basketball sneakers and its biggest sponsor at the time was Detroit Pistons point guard Isiah Thomas. With the recent string of basketball retros from the likes of Nike and Reebok, Asics has joined in on the action and to re-release the Gel-Spotlyte.

The Asics Gel-Spotlyte was Thomas' signature sneaker in 1992 after wearing Converse and Puma for most of his career. The Gel-Spotlyte was the perfect pair of on-court kicks for his small stature and style of play. Overall, the make-up of the re-issue pairs stays true to the original version from the early '90s. The Gel Spotlyte returns in its original "White/Marble" and "Black/Purple" colorways and feature a premium leather upper and a cushioned foam midsole.

The Asics Gel-Spotlyte will be available at select Asics retailers this month and are now in stock at international retailer Hype DC.
