With two colorways already under its belt, the adidas Mutombo retro is ready to keep the momentum going and unleash yet another pair of kicks upon the masses. Seeing as how each colorway the shoe either has, or will be released in, is dedicated to a different period in Mutombo’s long NBA career, this particular color scheme has sparked a little bit of debate amongst the sneaker community. While we can all clearly see that these joints sport a crisp blue upper, it is unclear whether the added color is orange or red. Since Mutombo was a member of both the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, this particular offering could really go either way. He only spent a year with both previously mentioned teams respectively, but that time was obviously essential to telling his story through this classic basketball silhouette. Throughout his illustrious 18 year career, Mutombo racked up a barrage of defensive awards and All-Star selections. Even though his playing career has been over, his infamous finger wag still lives on, thanks to his now epic GEICO commercial. Despite never winning a championship, Mutombo will forever be the peoples champ who continues to win even if it means swatting away whatever shots his retail competitors are throwing up.
