With the first episode of Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez’s new ABC series Queens is set to air Tuesday, the quartet appeared on The Breakfast Club to discuss the show and how it brought old memories of their own music industry experiences to the surface.

When Naughton was a teen, she was famously part of the girl group 3LW, which found modest success with hits like “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)” and “Playas Gon’ Play.” At some point during the height of their fame, the three girls appeared on MTV Cribs to show off a house that apparently wasn’t theirs.

“There are moments though, when I’m in [a Queens] scene, like, ‘Yo, this really happened to me,’” Naughton told The Breakfast Club around the 10:05 minute mark of the video above. “I lived it. I was doing a fake Cribs … MTV did the Cribs and back when 3LW was hot, we had to pretend. But I didn’t have a car, I didn’t have a house, I didn’t have any of those things. … But we did MTV Cribs.”

Naughton explained that they shot an episode of Queens that’s “very similar to that… where you see how fake we have to project this image and I literally did that and had to clean the house by seven o’clock to give it back to the owner.”

In the 3LW episode of MTV Cribs, Naughton, Adrienne Bailon, and Kiely Williams let MTV take a tour of what was billed as their house. In the episode, Williams explained that they were first leasing in Los Angeles following the TRL tour and after getting stuck due to 9/11, they decided to buy a home and record their second album.
