That Black Panther hype just won’t let up. After it was announced that Michael B. Jordan was added to a cast that already included Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o, fans flocked to Twitter to get #BlackPantherSoLit trending worldwide. Now, reports are surfacing that The Force Awakens star John Boyega is also in talks to join.
Boyega just might be taking meetings for a possible role in the film, Heroic Hollywoodreported. That’s not a definitive confirmation, but it does sound plausible as long as the timing is right. In case you forgot, Disney owns the rights to both Star Wars and Marvel Entertainment.
Boseman will reprise his role as T’Challa, the Wakandan prince who must step up as ruler following his father’s death in Captain America: Civil War. He also took up the mantle of Black Panther, which will surely complicate things. Details on the film are scarce, but it has been confirmed that production is set to start in January 2017 with a release date slated for February 16, 2018.
Black Panther will reunite Jordan with Creed director Ryan Coogler, who is writing the script and helming the already much-talked-about project. "[Coogler]'s working on the draft right now," Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed to Collider back in April. "Between now and the end of the summer, there will be more casting announcements." In other words, keep your eyes peeled.
Boyega’s representatives did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.
