After singer Sinead O’Connor accused Arsenio Hall of delivering drugs to Prince in a bizarre Facebook post, the former talk show host is hitting back with a lawsuit. In a document filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, Hall charges the "Nothing Compares to You" singer with defaming his name and is looking for $5 million in damages. He did not take too kindly to her rant, which paints him as a drug peddler and refers to him as "Prince's and Eddie Murphy's b***h."
"Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades....Arsenio Hall," she wrote before adding, "Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I've reported you to the Carver County Sherrif's office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy's house. You best get tidying your man cave."
Hall’s attorneys have denied those claims and maintain that he hasn’t seen her in 25 years, according to Variety. The suit also describes O’Connor’s post as "extraordinarily damaging to Hall’s reputation."
Nearly two weeks have passed since Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate, and speculation has pointed at an overdose. Reports say prescription pills were found close by and authorities are allegedly investigating a report from The Minneapolis Star-Tribune claiming he was supposed to meet with an addiction specialist the day before he died. His official cause of death won’t be known until the results from the toxicology report are released.
Hall's rep did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
