What if I told you lightsabers were real? Well, they actually aren’t but they could be if you know your way around a gamma ray. With just six weeks to go before The Force Awakens lands in theaters (and essentially takes over the world), cool bro and all-around smart guy Neil deGrasse Tyson sat down to explain how one of the franchise’s most replicated imitated weapons could really exist.
In a clip uploaded to Tech Insider, he immediately refutes the theory that they’re made of beams of light because two flashlights pointed at each other does nothing. If you’re super interested in learning how they’d work, check out the above video. Also, probably not a good idea to try at home.
