In the pantheon of “botched attempts at a compliment,” Larry King may have just set the new standard.
On one of his signature “My Two Cents” late night Twitter binges, the venerable talk show host turned his focus briefly towards his wife, Shawn Southwick King. She is wife No. 7 for Larry (seriously), and the 81-year-old may soon be moving on to No. 8 if he’s not careful.
Things started out nicely enough:
My wife is just as pretty without makeup on.

But then Larry tried to say something else nice about her, and well…it didn’t quite go well:

This pair has not always had the easiest time of it, filing divorce papers in 2010 amid sordid accusations from both sides before reconciling a few months later. Hopefully, this isn’t just the next step in their tumultuous journey towards one of the most absurd divorce cases in this country's history.
