A van filled with NYPD officers crashed in the Bronx this morning, killing one and leaving several others injured.

The New York Times reports that the van crashed into a median on the Bruckner Expressway around 5 a.m. The Times adds that the officers were from the 47th Precinct, and were en route to Manhattan in preparation for tomorrow's United Nations General Assembly.

Authorities said the van was the only vehicle involved in the accident, and the eight injured officers were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, and Jacobi Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
