Day drinking on the Rockaway beaches just became more challenging, as the NYPD is cracking down on that type of activity this summer.

The New York Post reports that the consumption of alcohol in public is one of the many things police are trying to reduce at the Rockaways during the warmer months:

The NYPD is taking aim at Rockaways beachgoers — cracking down on minor infractions such as drinking beer, walking dogs and climbing on rock jetties, The Post has learned. During the Memorial Day weekend, cops issued 152 “quality-of-life violation” summonses — three times more than the same period last year.

The Post adds that the bulk of the summonses are for $50 fines, but beachgoers are especially pissed off because they weren't warned. From now on, just assume that any fun you want to have will cost you in the long run.
