After Vince Vaughn dropped out of the project last year, it appears Daddy’s Home may have found its new foil for star Will Ferrell: his co-star from The Other Guys, Mark Wahlberg.

Deadline reports that Wahlberg has become the lead choice to star opposite Ferrell in the movie, which is to be directed by the Horrible Bosses 2team of Sean Anders and John Morris.

It features Ferrell as a calm, wholesome radio executive who is determined to impress his two step-kids and earn their love. Matters become complicated, however, when their absentee father (Wahlberg) comes back into the picture, forcing the duo to one-up each other in order to gain the kids’ affection.

Production is expected to begin this fall on what sure looks like another “meh” comedy from Ferrell and Co. Hopefully, he can prove us wrong.
