Andy Serkis is once again on everybody’s mind thanks to another standout performance, this time in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It’s no easy feat to give nuance and genuine empathy for a CGI ape, but the talented Serkis seems to have done it again with his portrayal of Caesar in the highly-anticipated sequel.

His next project may be even bigger.

We already knew he was going to be involved with Star Wars: Episode VII, and now we can add another hugely-anticipated blockbuster to Serkis' CV: The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It had been assumed that his work on Avengers was limited to tutoring Mark Ruffalo on the finer points of motion capture work, but in an interview with Variety Serkis gave the classically coy “I’m not at liberty to mention” when asked whether he’d be appearing in the movie.

Doesn’t it seem likely that, if he weren’t actually in the movie, he’d just say “no” and move on? It’s fair to say that the already-stacked cast of the Avengers just got even better, and we look forward to the rumors and speculation about what Serkis' role will be in the film.

Hurry up and get here already, May 6, 2015.
