In light of the terrible news regarding NBC giving the axe to Community, there is actually some good news for fans of Hannibal. According to TV Line, the network has renewed the critically-acclaimed drama for a third season. Despite the near-universal praise for the show, Hannibal has failed to maintain a consistent audience on Friday nights. But while it only brings in a 1.4 average rating among adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall, it also has the youngest audience for a 10 p.m. drama on ABC, CBS, or NBC.
Networks covet younger audiences, and with Hannibal also getting high marks with critics, it makes sense that the network would give it another year to prove itself. So Hannibal fans can now rest easy knowing the show has been granted another stay of execution. We have a feeling that anxiety will be back in force this time next year, though.
