Marvel Moves "Ant Man" Release Date Into "Batman Vs. Superman's" Old Spot

Take that, Dark Knight!

It looks like Warner Brothers' loss is Marvel’s gain because according to Collider, the studio is moving Ant Man’s release date up two weeks from July 31, 2015 to July 17, 2015. This is the date that originally belonged to WB’s yet-untitled Batman vs. Superman film, but Marvel wouldn’t just let a prime spot like that stay open. Maybe this is a bit of studio system revenge after Batman vs. Superman was moved to May 6, 2016, which is the same day that a yet-unnamed Marvel film is set to open.

This news comes just weeks after Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas were officially cast in the movie. Michael Pena and Clifton Collins Jr. are also being eyed for unknown roles, in addition to a female lead that has yet to be cast. Expect more Ant Man news to come out in the coming weeks as Marvel looks to solidify the cast with director Edgar Wright getting closer to filming.
