Here is the TV show that the world needs right now: According to Vulture, Paramount Pictures is developing a TV series based off of the 1990 film Ghost, which originally starred Patrick Swayze as a successful NYC banker who is murdered and subsequently becomes a ghost. It's apparently being developed by A Beautiful Mind's Akiva Goldsman and Fringe executive producer Jeff Pinkner, so it actually has a chance of being good—but still, how weird is it that Ghost is getting a TV series, 23 years later? Guess "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers truly is a timeless classic.
As The Guardian reports, it's not clear whether or not the TV series will feature any characters from the original film, which was directed by Jerry Zucker, or if it'll feature involvement from the film's other two stars, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. It's pretty doubtful that it will, realistically—for a show like this, it would make more sense to just start with a fresh bunch of characters, and a totally new plotline.
No word on when to expect this series on air.
