The Seattle Police Department has an excellent sense of humor. Cops will hand out about 1,000 bags of Doritos at this year's Hempfest celebration, and each bag will have a sticker directing the hemp-loving faithful to a website with more information about Initiative 502—i.e. the state of Washington's guidelines on the legalization of marijuana.

Speaking with The Stranger, SPD spokesman Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said. "Distributing salty snacks at a festival celebrating hemp, I think, is deliberately ironic enough that people will accept them in good humor." "We want to make sure people learn the rules and that they respect the vote," he added.
According to Whitcomb, police will not cite Hempfest attendees thanks to a 2003 mandate that "deprioritized" marijuana. However, minors busted with weed or anyone caught dealing can still be arrested. Oh, and just because:
All in all, this is a pretty cool move by the Seattle Police Department and a great opportunity for education. As a department, they have a sense of humor.
