It’s true: The party never really stops in New York City. However, it does seem to take a hiatus when the weather turns sub-zero. Your friends that are normally down for those Tuesday night drinks were tucked away watching Netflix and hiding from the cold the entire winter. Well, thank God those days over. Summer is back with a vengeance and with it, we have all the revelry that the nice weather brings. You don’t have to be that person that leaves the city every weekend for the Hamptons or the Jersey Shore, there’s plenty of amazing things going on in the concrete jungle every night, too. These are the 10 can’t miss summer parties that the city has to offer.

10. Kaviar Roof Club

Neighborhood: TBA
Where: 944 5th Ave.
When: Saturdays anywhere from 2 to 10 p.m.
Websitekaviardiscoclub.com

Resident DJs Travmatic and Beto Cravioto host this roaming disco/house party with special guests (past guests have included Claptone, Homework, and Tanner Ross), making for what is arguably one of the best parties in New York. The duo aims to throw one party a week all summer, in venues from secret rooftops to underground clubs and warehouses. Start hanging out with these guys, you won't be disappointed and you'll never be bored.

9. Dark Disco

Neighborhood: Chinatown
Where: 88 Forsyth St.
When: Saturdays at 10 p.m.
Website: meanredproductions.com

In the past few years, Chinatown went from being the part of town that you generally try to avoid to housing some of the hottest new bars and clubs. Dark Disco is not a weekly or even a monthly party, this event happens basically when the people behind it want it to happen on random Saturdays in Chinatown. To quote their website, “Enter into a club where you can disappear and have the best night of your life. Where you can love and hate equally and then drink and dance it off. Welcome to Dark Disco.” Yeah, we're not entirely sure what means either, but we do know these guys have got it right. They fly in DJs just for the night, and past acts have included Diplo, A-Trak and Flosstradamus, just to name a few of the bigger acts. The last one was on June 8th, so keep your eyes and ears to the sidewalk for the next installment.

8. Mad Decent Block Party

Neighborhood: Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Where: 50 Kent Ave.
When: August 10th
Website: maddecentblockparty.com

This is only a once a summer thing, so figure out a way to get to go to this event. Sure, the Brooklyn one is already sold out, but if you've lived in New York long enough, you know that there's always a way to get into any event. With Major Lazer heading this party, it's at least worth a shot. There's also offshoots in Philly and DC that haven't sold out yet. At the very least, you can use this event as an excuse to see all your friends that give you a hard time for never coming to visit them.

7. House of Vans

Neighborhood: Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Where: 25 Franklin St.
When: Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Website: vans.com/eventsites/vans-house-parties/

These are some of the best summer parties that Brooklyn has to offer, full of free beer and free music, so make sure you RSVP ASAP to reserve your spot. The parties take place at the Vans House in Brooklyn and are all ages (House of Vans loves the kids). The line-up this year is even bigger than last year with acts like Toro Y Moi signed on. Don't miss the first one on June 27, featuring Fucked Up as the headliner.

6. ÉTÉ D'AMOUR NYC

Neighborhood: Meatpacking District, Manhattan
Where: Le Bain, 848 Washington St.
When: Sundays at 10 p.m.
Website: facebook.com/etedamournyc

Sunday is not a day for rest, at least not in this city, and definitely not during the summer. This weekly party is held at the ever exclusive Le Bain at The Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District. This is a club to avoid on a Friday and Saturday night, but any other time than that: you're golden. Their Sunday party, in particular, is fantastic. Full of beautiful French people and some of the best DJs around. If that doesn't lure you in, we don't know what can.

5. MoMA PS1 presents Warm Up 2013

Neighborhood: Long Island City, Queens
Where: 22-25 Jackson Ave.
When: Saturdays at 3 p.m.
Website: momaps1.org/warmup

The Warm Up parties are easily the most established soiree on this list. Now celebrating its 16th year, the outdoor music party continues on in MoMA PS1's courtyard. Warm Up takes place every Saturday starting June 29 through September 7. The admission is steep (at least, compared to everything else on this list) at 15 bucks in advance and $18 the day-of, but it's worth it. In addition to the DJs and bands, Warm Up will also feature rotating stage installations by a variety of New York design talent.

4. Bright Young Things

Neighborhood: Lower East Side
Where: The Thompson, 190 Allen St.
When: Fridays at 3 p.m.
Website: facebook.com

The Thompson LES pool parties have become a major staple in the downtown summer scene. The weekly Friday party, Bright Young Things or BYT.3, was created three years ago by Steven Hamilton, along with his DJ, Jasper Stapleton, and it just keeps getting bigger and better. The gorgeous hotel on Allen St. is the perfect atmosphere for the event. This is the kind of pool party you don't want to miss.

3. Swimming With Sharks

Neighborhood: Meatpacking District
Where: 848 Washington St.
When: Saturdays at 3 p.m.
Where: Le Bain, 848 Washington St.
Websitelaurajunekirsch.tumblr.com

Ah, Le Bain strikes again. The Swimming with Sharks parties are a country wide phenom, with parties in LA and Vegas, as well. SWS aren't the cheapest affairs because there's essentially no drink deals, but the famed hot tub is there, filled with beautiful socialites, so make sure to bring your bathing suit. Le Bain, again, is a very exclusive club, making who gets in the doorman's discretion, even if you did RSVP, so just try your hardest to look good. You won't regret it.

2. Mister Sunday

Neighborhood: Gowanus, Brooklyn
Where: 400 Carroll St.
When: Sundays at 5 p.m.
Website: mistersaturdaynight.com

Ah, Mister Sunday, you were missed. This weekly outdoor dance party, thrown by the same guys famous for Mister Saturday Night, takes place along the Gowanus Canal where dope DJs spin tunes while dazed dancers party underneath a disco ball hung from trees. There's sangria, cheap beer specials, and amazing tacos from the food truck, Country Boys. Admission is 10 dollars, and the party reaches peak rowdiness at around 5 p.m. Yes, it's in Gowanus and yes, it's entirely worth leaving your hood to make it to this crazy party.

1. Tiki Disco

Neighborhood: Bushwick, Rockaway Beach, Queens
Where: The Knockdown Center, Queens (52-19 Flushing Ave.); Roberta's, Brooklyn, (261 Moore St.); Rippers, Far Rockaway (Boardwalk & Beach 86th St.)
When: Sundays at 2 p.m.
Website: tikidisco.tumblr.com

Tiki Disco is the ultimate summer party. It's got great drink deals, fantastic DJs and, perhaps most importantly, very pretty people who like to dance. The lines can be horrendous, so you definitely want to arrive early. The parties take place generally every other Sunday (with a few exceptions) at three primary locations. The party used to be at Roberta's every time, but it's been said that some of the neighbors off of the Morgan stop were less than enthused with the noise-level of the extremely wild parties...on Sunday afternoons. Come for the fun, enjoy the Monday morning hangovers. Long live the everlasting summer.
