It's officially on. Today Facebook announced that it would be adding a video component to Instragram. The new video-sharing function allows IG users to record up to 15 seconds of footage and comes equipped with 13 filters, with names such as Digpatch, Vesper, and Moon. It's basically Vine 2.0. Even more impressive, Instagram worked with a team of video scientists to create "Cinema," a video stabilization feature that turns all your shaky clips into tiny cinematic masterpieces.
This obviously spells trouble for Vine, the popular video-sharing app owned by Twitter. Many already believe Vine will have its work cut out in the coming months—that is, if the company doesn't shutter altogether as users flock to Instagram for video content. Is Vine's time in the spotlight up? Twitter users certainly thinks so.
