A spokesperson for EA has confirmed that the triple-A publisher has no new Wii U games currently in development, according to a report from Kotaku. The news follows a conspicuous absence in this year's entries in the Battlefield, Madden and FIFA series for Nintendo's flagging console.
"We have no games in development for the Wii U currently," an EA spokesperson told Kotaku earlier this week. After some console ports, namely last year's Madden and FIFA as well as Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Mass Effect 3, it seems the company's support is at an end, at least for the time being.
Perhaps not unreleatedly, an EA Canada developer was also seen tweeting some unkind remarks about the Wii U this week, calling the console "crap" while saying its marketshare is irrelevant. Meanwhile, EA continues to put their support behind the PS4 and Microsoft's next Xbox console, both capable of running Battlefield's next-gen Frostbite 3 engine.
