This year's SXSW just got a little more awesome: Jack Black's band with Kyle Gass, Tenacious D, is confirmed to both perform a live concert, and promote the new web series Ghost Ghirls during this year's festival in Austin next month.
The band has partnered with Shine America for the event, which produced and is distributing the web comedy series to Yahoo! Screen this spring. Ghost Ghirls follows two inept female ghostbusters who try to solve mysteries of the supernatural variety, often times in a hilarious fashion. It stars Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci as the two paranormal investigators, and also features great cameos from comedian Molly Shannon, Bored to Death star Jason Schwartzman, New Girl star Jake Johnson, and Black himself. It was created by Drunk History's Jeremy Konner, along with stars Lund and Blasucci.
In a statement, Black commented on the event:
"There is no better place to unleash the beast that is Ghost Ghirls on an unsuspecting audience. Austin knows how to rock, and how to party, and how to marvel at the supernatural forces that inhabit our world. I'm so proud of this show, and I will be there with bells on, to bask in the glory."
