The Mario Party series emerged during a time of great experimentation for Nintendo, when Mario was trying on all kinds of different hats, most of them related to sports. But the board game thing was totally new, and there's a reason why Mario Party games are still going strong today: they were, and remain, fun. Mario Party 2 did away with many of its predecessor's problems, including mini games that left us with palm blisters for weeks, yet provided all the devious multiplayer shenanigans that the series is great for.
