If you take New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), you know the waiting struggle all too well. And while getting the trains to arrive more frequently is out of our control, we have an alternative solution: MTA Subway Time. Still in its trial stages, the app available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad shows the arrival times for seven trains (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and S shuttle).

In a statement, MTA Chairman and CEO Joseph J. Lhota said, "The ability to get subway arrival time at street level is here. The days of rushing to a subway station only to find yourself waiting motionless in a state of uncertainty are coming to an end." To an end, huh? We don't know about all that. But we definitely appreciate any help in making our commute just a little bit easier.
