It seems that even Hurricane Sandy-related theater closures aren't goin to be enough to keep Disney's newest film, Wreck-It Ralph from pulling in impressive numbers at the box office this weekend: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to open somewhere in the $45 million to $50 million range, and is already doing well especially in the Northeast, where 300 theaters were closed due to the effects of the hurricane.
This isn't particularly surprising when you really think about it, though - with schools in the area still closed and some parents unable to make it to work, taking the family to the movies is a fairly good distraction.
As for other films opening this weekend, the Denzel Washington-starring Flight is expected to earn somewhere between $12 million and $15 million this weekend. RZA's directorial debut, The Man With the Iron Fists, is also debuting.
Do you plan on heading to the movies this weekend?
