Google first announced its broadband Internet service, Google Fiber, in 2010. After a vigorous selection process the service has finally gone live in the community of Hannover Heights in Kansas City giving the residents a new option for faster high-speed Internet.
Google Fiber currently costs $70 a month for speeds up to 1 Gbps, offering faster speeds for less coin than traditional American ISPs. In addition to Google Fiber, customers have an opition for Fiber TV which would cost customers $120 per month for both services.
"We just got it today and I’ve been stuck in front of my laptop for the last few hours. It’s unbelievable. I’m probably not going to leave the house."
The plans of expansion will continue to five more areas of Kansas City this winter and rapid expansion is expected during the summer of 2013. Super fast Internet connection and TV for $120 a month? I wonder if anyone needs a roommate in Kansas City.
