Mitt Romney and People of Color: A Brief History in 15 Moments

10. Vote Obama, Get Free Stuff

Short Version: Mitt Romney told a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People conference that if they wanted free stuff, they could vote for Obama.

Less-Short Version: Given the opportunity to speak to the NAACP in July, 2012, Mitt Romney naturally extended an olive branch to people of color from an increasingly snowy Republican Party by telling them that they can't have anything for free, except with the words “...But I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this: If they want more stuff from government, tell them to go vote for the other guy—more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free."
