The current generation of gaming consoles has lasted longer than any other, so it's only natural for us to speculate endlessly about when the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 will be introduced. Sometimes, though, the companies in charge like to do all the speculating for us, leaving us to kick off our shoes and simply report it.

Case in point: A job posting from Microsoft read, "Over the next 18 months, Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products, including Windows (Client, Server, Phone, and Azure), Office, and Xbox."

The listing's since been deleted, of course. But an 18-month window could stick the next Xbox firmly in the middle of the 2013 holiday season, which likely means a reveal at E3 next year. Of course, it could arrive as far out as Feb. 2014, but the holiday makes more sense.

A Microsoft exec recently gaffed hard when he publicly mentioned the next Xbox, and though the company tried to cover for him, it's not like we don't know it's coming.

Do you think the Xbox 720 could really drop in 2013? Tell us your predictions in the comments or on Twitter.
