Pre-theatrical releases can be risky for films, but it seems to have worked out for the upcoming Kirsten Dunst- Isla Fisher- Lizzy Caplan-starring Bachelorette. According to Deadline, since made available to rent over on demand platforms on August 10th, the film has hit #1 on the iTunes Movie Charts and grossed over $500,000 from Video on Demand rentals. Considering that the film originally premiered at Sundance and had trouble finding a buyer due to the nature of its content and, apparently, characters that were "so hard to love," these earnings exceed expectations. No telling how this will affect box office earnings, but at the very least, it proves there's interest for the film.

Bachelorette will officially open in theaters on September 7th. You can check out the trailer here.
