This really has to be seen to believed. Renowned Japanese robotics scientist Hiroshi Ishigiro has developed a new bot called the Hugvie, which is essentially a human-shaped pillow designed to serve as a stand-in for a person on the other end of a phone call.
To use Hugvie, you hold it close and speak directly into its body, which doubles as a receiver for your cell phone. And if that weren't creepily intimate enough, the Hugvie actually vibrates at varying speeds depending on the pitch of the caller's voice.
We know long distance relationships are hard, but this is just ridiculous.
