Grasshopper Manufacture may be making a sequel to their wild and crazy shooter, Shadows of the Damned. Composer Akira Yamaoka, who worked with No More Heroes creator Suda 51 and Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami on the original, said he's "thinking of a sequel", according to Eurogamer.
Shadows of the Damned was met with critical acclaim but sold very poorly in the US and abroad. Until now, SotD 2 would've certainly been one of least likely sequels in the gaming industry.
With that in mind, it's even more surprising that Yamaoka said that, were the sequel to exist, it would be distributed by EA, who published the original. Why the studio would put money into producing a unequivocal flop is a mystery.
Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth, though: Shadows of the Damned 2 would be a second chance for a great game to evolve into a fantastic franchise.
